I’m not a die-hard fan, I’ve never been to a Trekkie convention, but I have watched 70% of the Star Trek franchise, some series, like The Original Series, The Next Generation, or Deep Space Nine, I’ve watched more than once. Whilst practising using a tablet and pen to paint, I chose Star Trek as a subject for portraits and stuck with it for a while.
The feedback was good, with a couple of great requests from friends and followers, so the project continued for longer than planned, but I enjoyed it immensely, so I plan to do some more in the near future
Below is a slideshow of all 13 portraits, all of which were drawn/painted using PenUp software on a Samsung Galaxy tab4 lite.
If a slideshow isn’t your thing, there’s a static gallery below, with a description of each image.

Title Page.
A bit ambitious, putting so many Star Trek titles on the title page. Perhaps I’ll do a few from all, who knows?

S’chn T’gai Spock and James T. Kirk.
A drawing of Spock, played by Leonard Nimoy and Kirk, played by William Shatner on an away mission during Star Trek (The Original Series) Season 1 Ep.2. “The Man Trap”. It was Spock’s 2nd episode but Captain Kirk’s debut and the start of a very long friendship.
My first attempt and as a whole I am critical of a few details, but it does capture a great moment between the two characters / actors in their first episode in a long relationship.

Nyota Uhura.
Nichelle Nichols, R.I.P. 1932-2022 as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura in Star Trek – The Original Series – Season 1 episode 3 – Charlie X’ (1966)
She was/is an inspiration and very talented.

Charlie X.
Charlie, from; Star Trek – The Original Series – Season 1 episode 3 – Charlie X’ (1966)

A Gorn.
Or THE Gorn? He is a star.
He first popped up as a slow-fighting but supposedly super intelligent reptiloid in Star Trek The Original Series S.1 Ep.14 ‘Arena’. He is awesome, just look at his cuddly little face.
This was requested by the equally awesome Nicholas Wall. Close friend and talented chap.

Jean-Luc Picard.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by the inimitable Patrick Stewart in his debut back in September 1987 i in the 1st episode of Star Trek – The Next Generation – ‘Encounter at Farpoint’. A poignant moment as he contemplates the unknown adventures ahead of him.

Q.
This handsome devil is ‘Q’ – An omnipotent being, who appears in the debut double-episode of Star Trek The Next Generation. (S.1 Ep1 – Encounter at Farpoint – 1987) John de Lancie has played Q, or the voice of Q in many of the franchises, most recently, Lower Decks and Picard.
This photo is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment when, during his first scene, he glares to whip up a forcefield to stop 2 security guards.

Locutus of Borg.
Patrick Stewart playing Locutus, in his borgish debut during “The Best of Both Worlds; Part 1” (Star Trek The Next Generation, S3 Ep26).
Picard was only Borg for 3 days, but did a lot of damage as Locutus. Google ‘The Battle of Wolf 359’ for more info on that destruction.

William Thomas Riker.
Following on from Locutus, here’s (acting captain) Commander Riker, played by the brilliant Jonathan Frakes, whilst ordering Lt. Worf to fire on the Borg. Not his debut, but the same episode as the previous artwork, Season 3 ep.26 “The Best Of Both Worlds Part 1”.

Miles Edward O’Brien.
The incomparable Miles O’Brien, played by the awesome Colm Meaney, in his debut performance in Star Trek The Next Generation – S1, Ep.1 – ‘Encounter at Farpoint’. I particularly enjoyed the lighting of this one.

Benjamin Lafayette Sisko.
Following on in a timey sort of fashion, Picard has become Locutus, Riker has looked shocked and fired upon the Borg. Around this time, during the Battle of Wolf 359, Commander Sisko sadly watches his ship, the USS Saratoga, destroyed. Losing his beloved wife, Jennifer, during the destruction, he saves his son and escapes, but whilst watching the destruction of the Borg vessel through the window of the escape vessel, he looks down in sadness, or perhaps despair, or even relief. This was Cpt. Sisko’s debut episode, “Emissary” – Star Trek – Deep Space 9 (or DS9) Season 1, Episode 1.
Fact is, it’s a poignant moment. It’s a great acting performance but I drew it because Avery Brooks is definitely in my top 3 actors/captains throughout the whole Star Trek universe. I couldn’t decide between looking out, or looking down, so I did both! This is part one of two.

Benjamin Lafayette Sisko.
Part2, Commander Benjamin Sisko, played by Avery Brooks, looking down in despair after losing his ship and more importantly, his beloved wife, Jennifer.
From Sisko’s debut episode, “Emissary” – Star Trek – Deep Space 9 (or DS9) Season 1, Episode 1.

Kira Nerys.
The passionate and powerful Major Kira Nerys, played by Nana Visitor, in her debut role in the debut episode of Star Trek – Deep Space 9 Season.1, Ep.1 – ‘Emissary’.
